Our "Paradigm"
Our goal at One World Farm is to create a sustainable, earth conscious environment with a focus on making a mindful contribution to the local community. At One World Farm, we strive to make a difference, albeit small, in the way that we use and reuse materials and products responsibly and thoughtfully. As we build the infrastructure on the farm, we use salvaged and recycled materials whenever possible, aiming to reduce our footprint on the environment around us. Check out our projects page for ideas about incorporating salvaged materials in simple ways around the house and farm.
Reducing our negative impact on the environment represents a number of responsibilities in our daily lives. Choosing to buy locally whenver possible, reducing our need and desire for many of the material posessions that often clutter our lives, and producing some of the things that we need, are some of the ways that we continue to work to embody this value system at One World Farm. Check out some of the neat resources we've linked to the site to learn more about sustainable living in a variety of different ways.
One World Farm represents an attempt to reconnect with the simple pleasures in life, embracing our connection to the Earth through the thoughtful care of the living environment. At One World Farm, that means growing vegetables, fruits, and plants while limiting the use of harmful pesticides and fertilizers. Further, it means making a sincere attempt to create a sustainable and healthy environment for all living things on the farm--plants, animals, and people, too.
Several of the animals that live at One World Farm are rare breeds and are less common than the traditional breeds that are more popular on larger farms and ranches. Check out the pages on our Baby Doll Sheep and our Chickens for examples of the rare breeds at the farm.
In today's fast-paced society, One World Farm exists as a reminder of an opportunity to embrace a more simple time and place. For us, this helps us to recognize our connection to the environment and the responsibility that we have to do our small part in protecting and nourishing the Earth.
